Charles Wright Academy Lower School

Tacoma, Washington

The goal of this project was to integrate a new Lower School Building into the existing Middle and Upper School campus, to allow for convenient sharing of facilities.  The resulting two-story building reflects the exterior character of the Upper School, in its stepped hillside design, low, sloped shed roofs, and red brick cladding.  Inside the building, a new Commons, Library and Media Center, and shared/public Administration spaces are located central to the classrooms and other teaching spaces. The scope of work included an addition to the Middle School cafeteria that preserved the existing views of Mt Rainier.
