Fawcett Central Switch Office

Tacoma, Washington

This project required the most sequentially complex phasing that our company has ever provided -- given that the building was occupied while work was in progress and all equipment had to remain operational throughout construction. The resulting project included a 17,500 sf second floor addition, with a cast-in-place concrete roof to allow future expansion to a third floor. The addition provides a new entry, administrative offices, a break room, and restrooms, as well as new interior stairs, passenger and freight elevators. Work also included demolition of the existing first floor entry, rooftop chiller platform and associated piping and ductwork, along with relocation of the existing emergency generator and structural improvements to the existing Tacoma City Light Electrical Vault.
